Online Sanskrit Workshop: Standing + Seated Poses

Learn from anywhere! This workshop is online.

In this online LIVE workshop, we explore the meaning and correct pronunciation of several yoga poses in their native Sanskrit names. Appropriate for yoga teachers, teachers in training, and dedicated students, we will immerse into the ancient language of yoga which is as relevant today as ever.

In this workshop, you can expect to learn and practice the following:

  • Sanskrit break down of Standing Poses such as Trikonasana, Garudasana, Natarajasana, Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana, Vrksasana, Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana, Urdhva Prasarita Eka Padasana.

  • Sanskrit break down of Seated Poses such as: Gomukhasana, Vajrasana, Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana, Upavsitha Konasana, Pascimottanasana

  • Translation of Sanskrit to English; and English to Sanskrit

  • Proper pronunciation of Standing and Seated Poses

  • Practices of knowing how to see Sanskrit words and how to fluidly read them correctly

  • A brief history of Sanskrit

You will leave this workshop feeling more confident and knowledgeable in your understanding of Sanskrit. More importantly, you will leave this workshop with a deeper connection to your yoga practice and yoga’s origins.
